Stroll along the Limestone County Courthouse
grounds September 12 from 10 am until 4 pm and step into a world
of fine art found at the 4th Annual Art On The Square in Athens,
Alabama. “Two years ago, I had to remind myself I was in Athens.
The artwork and meeting the artists under the trees was reminiscent
of a trip to Europe,” said Diane Lehr, artist and former AOTS
Secretary.
Thousands attended Art on the Square last year and the committee
plans to make this year’s event bigger and better. Over 40
participating regional artists will display and sell their original
artwork in a variety of mediums including painting, clay, photography,
jewelry, mixed media and more.
AOTS offers a unique opportunity to purchase original art and meet
the artist. Art is for everyone and comes in all price ranges. “I
love buying art from local artists. You can own a one-of-kind art
piece that has a story, without breaking the bank,” said Trisha
Black, AOTS former President.
The Kidzone offers 20 free art camps on Marion Street throughout
the whole event. Activities include painting, bead making, clay,
swirl art, tye-dye shirts, bean bag toss, multimedia collage, face
painting and side walk chalk art in the street.
Many downtown restaurants will be open and additional varieties
of food will be sold at our event . We are also happy to offer the
opportunity to enjoy free culinary demonstrations this year.
