2011 Juried Exhibiting Artists

Dear Artist:

Excitement is in the air as we gear up for our “Sixth Annual” Art on the Square Fine Arts Festival on September 10, 2011, 10:00 am-4:00 pm. This year we are pleased to have increased the prize awards to $800 “Best of Show”, $300 second place, and $200 third place. This is a juried arts show. Notice that our deadline to receive applications is June 17th. Because of the large number of artists’ responses and limited space we will be strict to our registration deadline.

Please send two separate payments in the form of checks or money orders for the following fees: $10 nonrefundable jury fee. $65 entry fee is refundable if not selected or if you cancel before July 6, 2011. The absolute deadline for applications received is June 17, 2011. Please submit early.

All artists will be selected for entry based on the originality, workmanship and overall artistic quality of their work. Entries will be accepted in various mediums including; drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, photography, digital art, fiber, glass, 2-D & 3-D mixed media (please note: Media Category Descriptions). We will not accept any craft items, nothing made from molds or kits. Our judges have no affiliation with the AOTS Board and are selected to jury the entries based on their art experience and credentials. AOTS encourages all artists to apply.

Please submit your application (at least three samples of your work) on disk or photo format, and fees payable to: Art on the Square, PO Box 1560, Athens AL 35612. Applications and samples can also be dropped off at Westside Jiffy Pharmacy, 1204 West Market Street, Athens from 8am to 7pm Monday – Friday, 8 am to 5pm Saturday. For featured artist stories to help promote the AOTS events and your art, please include your photo and biography. AOTS reserves the right to choose artists to highlight at the PR panel’s discretion.

It is at the discretion of AOTS for space allocation in order to best display the variety of art represented. For all returning artists, we will try to honor your wishes to exhibit in the same booth area as previously, please note on your application if that is your request.

Artists are responsible for supplying their own tent, table(s) & chairs. To prevent any possible damage to the grass and under ground utilities, we asked that you use weights to secure your tent. Each booth space is 10x10. Keeping in mind that this is a kid friendly event, the AOTS organization is requesting that all nudes be of “modest taste”. AOTS reserves the right to ask artists to remove pieces that might be considered objectionable to attendees.
